MacLellan's Castle
Built in 1577-1582. At the other end of St Cuthbert St right in the centre of Kirkcudbright. Site managed by Historic Scotland.

Tolbooth Art Centre
Located at the top of High St, a 17th century town hall, now the centre for revealing Kirkcudbright's history as "Artist Town Scotland". Video presentation available for an interesting look into the life and work of Kirkcudbright's most notable artists. Also weekly/monthly exhibits on display.

Wigtown
"Booktown Scotland" Something like 12 used book shops, all in one town. Signposted off the A75 toward Newton Stewart/Stranraer.

Threave Castle and Gardens
Two separate locations, both off the western end of the Castle Douglas ring-road from the A75. A National Trust site.

Mill on the Fleet - Gatehouse of Fleet
18th century cotton mill. Crafts, used books, shop and cafe. Good food! Especially good place to go for lunch on a sunny day, with a lovely deck on the river.

Broughton House (Hornel Museum)
18th century home and studio of A.E. Hornel, best known of the artists known as "The Glasgow Boys". Run by the National Trust. Located on High St. Kirkcudbright.

The closest town with many shops and cafes. Also Tesco Metro, larger Co-op and Wilkinsons here.

Dundrennan Abbey
Historic Scotland site. 1st of the 3 Galloway Cistercian monasteries. Romanesque to early Gothic. Roughly 3 miles south of town.
